{"id":165,"date":"2012-09-18T06:50:51","date_gmt":"2012-09-18T14:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ericainsworth.com\/olmonitor\/blog\/?p=165"},"modified":"2017-09-06T02:15:37","modified_gmt":"2017-09-06T02:15:37","slug":"finding-lost-settings-copy-settings-to-new-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olmonitorblog.azurewebsites.net\/?p=165","title":{"rendered":"Finding lost settings \/ copy settings to new pc:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are 3 locations where settings can be stored.<br \/>\n-If you are missing settings, you can cycle through these 3 locations looking for your settings.<br \/>\n-If you just need to copy your current settings over to the new pc, you can do that also<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nFirst you need to try and locate the settings.<br \/>\nRun OL Monitor and click Options-Options from the drop-down menu.<br \/>\n<strong>NO settings found<\/strong>: The settings appear blank like this, with a couple of asterisks in the login fields:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1014\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/ScreenShot326-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"246\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Settings FOUND<\/strong>:\u00a0 Access code and login are not asterisks (password will always be asterisks):<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1024\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/ScreenShot327-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"247\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you found your settings you can skip the next step:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cycling through the other locations<\/strong>:<br \/>\nStart Ol Monitor.<br \/>\nClick on options, and look at the &#8216;Reload with&#8230;&#8217; options:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1034\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/ScreenShot084-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"153\" \/> &lt;&#8212; The checkmark indicates which location it was using.<br \/>\nWherever the checkmark is, select one of the other locations.\u00a0 Ol Monitor will close and you have to restart it.<br \/>\nLook again for your options, if not found, try the last location.<\/p>\n<p>If you found your settings:<br \/>\nYou can export them to a file and restore them to the new pc.<br \/>\nHere are instructions on exporting the settings to a reg \/ ini file:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.olmonitor.com\/ManualM\/window_3_6.htm\">http:\/\/www.olmonitor.com\/ManualM\/window_3_6.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can then import the reg file to the new pc.<\/p>\n<p>There are extended instuctions on working with the registry manually here:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.olmonitor.com\/settings.html\">http:\/\/www.olmonitor.com\/settings.html<\/a><br \/>\nRecommended if you have worked with the registry editor before.<\/p>\n<p>I am working on another program whose purpose is to make managing Ol Monitor settings easier.\u00a0 It is almost done, if you would like to try it I can provide you with a link to download it, but at this point it is a little rough around the edges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are 3 locations where settings can be stored. -If you are missing settings, you can cycle through these 3 locations looking for your settings. -If you just need to copy your current settings over to the new pc, you can do that also &#8230; First you need to try and locate the settings.
